The next meeting of the City Island Civic Association will be on Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the City Island Community Center, 190 Fordham Street.
No guests are scheduled to speak at this meeting. Topics will include crime, quality of life, development, and traffic conditions.
Special topics of discussion will include the proposed City Island Bridge, and the progress being made on the Chamber’s City Island Camera project, and conditions around Bridge Street and City Island Avenue.
A special note- the 45th Precinct (which encompasses our community) has a new Commanding Officer Russell Green. Welcome to Captain Green, who was previously the commanding officer of the Orchard Beach detail. As such, we know the Captain has a unique understanding of our concerns over traffic.
Also there is a primary election coming up on September 14, 2010. Contested primaries in our area include races for: United State Senator (Democratic and Republican Parties), Governor/Lieutenant Governor (Republican and Conservative Parties), Attorney General (Democratic Party), Member of the Assembly (Democratic Party), State Committee members, District Leaders, Delegates to the Judicial Convention and their Alternates. This is also the first election using the electronic voting equipment, so please make every effort to vote.
We welcome your thoughts and input on these important matters. If you have not been current on your dues we ask you please bring your annual payment.
